D·Origen Coffee Shop

In the heart of Barcelona, within the historic Casa Calvet designed by Antoni Gaudí, D·Origen Coffee Shop introduces the world’s first coffee shop incorporating 3D-printed elements made from coffee grounds. This innovative space, designed by Gianluca Pugliese of LOWPOLY and Arturo Tedeschi , uses the pioneering LOWIMPACT® material, a blend of recycled PLA and coffee grounds. The project exemplifies the sustainable reuse of coffee waste, transforming it into functional design elements. The coffee shop features custom furniture including counters, lamps, and stools, crafted to blend seamlessly with the historic architecture. The counters, a focal point of the design, are made from LOWIMPACT® material, showcasing the unique amber textures that, when backlit, create captivating light effects. This material, containing 98% organic content, is biodegradable and petroleum-free, combining recycled coffee grounds with various polymers for different color tones and textures.
